Blogging 201 – Set Three Goals

So, I haven’t been posting lately and it’s not because I don’t have any ideas. Life kind of spiraled out of control for a bit and when I got back on track, I decided to do a little blogging reevaluation and wait for Blogging 201 to start; which brings me to today.

 Set three goals

Developing my blogging/posting confidence. One thing I struggle with is posting what I’ve written. I have a fear of that “Publish” button. For some reason more often than not I can’t bring myself to hit it. I find myself constantly second guessing myself. Wondering if it’s good enough and then when no one comments on a post I spent hours crafting my confidence is shattered. Yep it hurts and it angers me. 😢 😤 And as a result, I don’t post.

Get Friday FAQue and Journey Through the Bible up and running. By the beginning of next year, I would like to have started Friday FAQue and next year I’d like to have some Bible reading buddies for Journey Through the Bible. I’m in the middle of developing a reading schedule so the Bible readings won’t be overwhelming and daunting.

Develop a blogging schedule. I mostly post the Weekly Scripture, which truthfully I haven’t been very diligent with lately. I do have a blogging schedule and it’s pretty aggressive, but I think it may be too aggressive for me to keep up and be successful. Having said that, I’ve been doing some thinking about the schedule and this is what I’ve come up with thus far.

Current (Weekly Posts)

Revised

Monday

Weekly Scripture

Monday

Weekly Scripture

Journey Through the Bible

Tuesday

My Journey

(Bi-weekly)

Wednesday

Wednesday

Thursday [On] . . . Thursday Journey Through the Bible (Weekly)

[On] . . . (Monthly)

Friday Friday FAQue Friday Friday FAQue
Saturday Wrap Up Saturday Journey Through the Bible

It’s still pretty aggressive, but two of the three more time consuming posts have changed from weekly to bi-weekly and monthly. This way, I’ll be able to better focus and create quality content.

  1. I don’t have a problem with the publish button. These things are not written in concrete and I can always modify them, so it doesn’t worry me. I’m trying to learn and I figure the best way is to write and hit PUBLISH and let the chips fall where they may.

  3. Hi Erica, Your blog looks great. Keep on posting. There are people out there who will find comfort and inspiration in your words. Don’t be disheartened if your posts don’t get a heap of likes or comments. It just means that they haven’t reached the right audience yet. 🙂 Lee-Anne

  4. Wow, this is a terrific blog! I like how you’ve designed your custom heading. I’m thinking about changing Gravatar information and some other things, and–like you–I’ve been scared to hit that Publish button. It gets a little easier each time, but then I want to change things. Constant cycle, isn’t it? Keep up the great work!

    1. Thanks Robin for stopping by and I’m glad you’re enjoying my little spot here on the interwebs. That doggone publish button gets a lot us it seems. Interesting. Very, very interesting. It does get a little easier each time.

I played around with laying out the blog one weekend. I probably should have clocked the number of hours I spent designing and redesigning. It takes a lot of time and patience to get it where you want it.

  5. Hi! I struggle with pushing that oh-so-scary publish button too. I have drafts just sitting. It’s odd that I use this platform but haven’t even shared this with friends for fear of negative comments or that second-guessing. Why do we always go to the negative? Let us both agree to not be scared anymore. Comments on our posts or not. Something is urging us to share and blog, so let’s do it. Right? Good luck! I look forward to reading more from you. =)
